Update CDDB from the command line

I am using grip to rip CDs. When I add new CDDB descriptions, grip will try to submit them via SMTP. On my machine, I don't allow emails to be sent to the outside world, so this doesn't work. Here is a way to submit new CDDB entries via HTTP.

I am using cddb_submit.py? for that, which is an extension of Feisty's CDDB.py (patch already submitted). To use it:

• Replace "_YOU EMAIL @ HERE_" at the end of the script by a real email adress
• Have grip save your cddb entry on the local disk (button "save")
• go into ~/.cddb, locate the file that corresponds to the entry you want to submit and run:
  python ./cddb_submit.py <category> <file_name>
  

where <category> is one of: blues, classical, country, data, folk, jazz, misc, newage, reggae, rock, soundtrack
